random facts

7. When I crack eggs at the stove, I like to pretend I’m Howl.

My stove unfortunately does not have a talking fire demon, though.

6. I love the juxtaposition of dark, cloudy skies and sunlit earth
5. Unless you’re someone I’m close to, if I notice we’re breathing at the same pace, I’ll make a conscious effort to breath at a completely different pace that doesn’t line up with yours at all.

I try harder when I notice this with people I don’t like very much, obviously. But if you’re someone I’m particularly close to or intimate with, I might even try to match my breathing with yours and be bothered when it’s not lined up.

I feel like this is weird but common. Or maybe it’s just common.

4. As phone conversations go on, I sometimes pick up other people’s accents

Happened recently when I called up this Thai place down the street. I was greeted by a very heavily accented Thai woman whose accent and inflections I started using. So I ended up sounding kinda fob?

I do the same thing with my British friends and sometimes my Indian friends, if they still have a noticeable accent.

3. It’s really hard for me to write a paper more than a day before it’s due

Lately, it’s getting to the point where I can’t get much down more than 12 hours before it’s due. I’m sure many of you sympathize, yes?

I don’t think I’ll ever forget how, in my 9th grade english class, one girl had finished every single writing assignment on the syllabus by the end of the first week of class. I was impressed and kinda jealous. For a while, I thought to myself, “I wanna be like her and own my classes.”

I never really ever got close to doing what she did, but that’s ok, ‘cause we all work at different paces, and I happen to work best “under pressure”. S’been getting me good grades so far, so.

Also, fuck sleep :V

2. I start things, get bored and leave them alone after a short while, then come back months later and finally finish them

The only times I don’t do this are when I find a really good series (like Doctor Who or Avatar) and I just marathon episodes back to back for days on end until I either finish or get caught up. At which point, I cry and curl up in the fetal position waiting for new episodes or lamenting the series finale.

What usually happens though is that I put whatever it is I’m doing down out of boredom or frustration or just because and just move on to something. Like with Persona 3 Portable, which I’ve been working on for about a year on and off, or Murakami’s A Wild Sheep Chase, which I finally finished reading after about a year break. A Wind-Up Bird Chronicle and Vonnegut’s Hocus Pocus are still sitting around with folded post-its somewhere in my room with a year and counting on them.

Don’t get me started on video games I’m not done with.

I just realized that I only finish tv shows in a short period of time.
